The lucky last In  the Spotlight is for Max and Me Designs who will be at Piccadilly Market tomorrow.

Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a Melbourne designer who loves to bring new life to Vintage postage stamps by upcycling them into art and jewellery which can be treasured and admired.

How did you come up with your business name?
My little boy, Max, was the inspiration for the very first piece of Vintage postage stamp art so “Max & Me Designs” seemed like the perfect name for my business.  Max is now 1 and he’s the perfect CEO!

Tell us how your product/range/business came about?
Max & Me Designs began when I was looking for a unique piece of art to hang in my new baby boy’s nursery. While cleaning out the cupboards I came across my old stamp album and decided to use the stamps featuring boats, cars, trains, sports and animals to create something as special and unique as my new baby boy. And so the very first Max & Me Design was born.... The original piece, a monogram of the letter M, still has pride of place in his room.  Before I knew it I was selling my artwork at local markets, on my own website and at selected retail outlets.  While my designs began as nursery decor the range quickly developed to include designs and products that will appeal to everyone, whether you're young or simply young at heart.

How long have you been in business for?
Max & Me Designs began in 2012.

What inspires you?
I’m constantly inspired by the things I see around me.  Many of the designs for the Vintage postage stamp art are inspired by nature or everyday moments.  For instance, the Time for Tea design was created following a wonderful catch up with my friends over a cup of tea.  I am also inspired by the beautiful artwork on the stamps themselves.  The Papillion collection will soon be available and has several limited edition pendants featuring some of the world’s most beautiful butterfly stamps.

Have you always been ‘creative’ or has it bloomed later in life?
I have always loved creating things and the time I spent on maternity leave in 2012 allowed me to rediscover my creativity.   I remember spending many weekends as a child creating things from items we had around the house.   My grandmother’s philosophy of “waste not, want not” has played a large part in my life and the development of my products.

When you are not busy creating what do you love doing?
I love reading and spending time with my family.  Max has already grown so quickly that I want to make the most of every moment with him.

What is something cool that most people wouldn’t know about you?
I have lived and worked on a tropical island and also in ski resort. Tell us more

If money was no object what would be your dream destination?
Since it is about 2 degrees in Melbourne at the moment, definitely somewhere warm and sunny!  I’d love to travel through the Caribbean, Africa and South America.

What are you reading right now?
I’ve just finished reading The Book Thief, it’s such an amazing, unique story.

What is your favorite website(s) ?
Pinterest!!!!   Yep, mine too.

Max and Me Designs are kindly offering a voucher in our giveaway hamper tomorrow.
